Militants’ attack: FG to reclocate affected Ijaw community

The Federal Government has assured the Ijaw community of Ayakoromor in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, who were forcefully ejected  from their traditional homes by militants of resettlement and adequate security.

In pursuance of this commitment, relief materials had been delivered by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to the displaced persons in the various camps where they have taken temporary shelters in Warri and Ogbu-Ijon.

Director-General of NEMA, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, who handed over the items to the people said it was based on the initial rapid assessment carried out by the agency to meet their immediate needs.

He said a detail report on their condition and needs would be submitted to the government, while assuring that further assistance may be given to resettle them back to normal life.

According to him everything possible action would be done by the agency to carry out directives of President Goodluck Jonathan to give necessary succour to the displaced persons.

He urged the people to remain calm and be patient while efforts were being made to assist them.
