As efforts are being made by the security agency to contain the crisis that broke up in Jos city following the congress of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Angwa Doki area of Bukuru in Jos south local government went on fire leading to shoot out between security men and hoodlums. Secret killings and burning of Houses have also continued.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulrahaman Akano, who confirmed the latest development, said some group of irate youths set houses of people ablaze at random when they had left for Sunday church service

He however said the prompt intervention of the combined team of police and the military controlled violence from escalating; adding that all the road blocks mounted by the youths had been dismantled.
Meanwhile, an Igbo group: Izu Umunna Cultural Association, Nigeria, has warned that Igbo in Jos would no longer fold their hands and watch the blood of innocent Igbo men and women being spilled on the guise of crisis.

The group in a statement signed by its President, Prof Zebulon Okoye, said “It is with utmost sense of sadness that we lament the chronic and cruel killing of Igbos in Jos which reared its ugly head again on the eve of Christmas and as recent as last Saturday with the bombing of innocent souls in some parts of Jos; as usual the Igbo suffered high level of casualties.

“For whatever the intentions or reasons of this terrorism may be, we want to strongly warn that political, religious and ethnic disagreement should not be settled with the blood of a single Igbo man or his property and indeed any other Nigerian for that matter.
“We hereby send a strong message to these perpetrators, executors and their godfathers to weigh the consequences of their actions both here in Jos and within the entire Federation of Nigeria”
