I’m still alive– Soyinka

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, on Wednesday denied rumours of his death spreading across some parts of the country.

The rumoured death of the 76-year-old laureate left many Nigerians and residents of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, worried. Many Nigerians made efforts to confirm the authenticity of the rumours.

Soyinka, who reacted to the news in a telephone conversation with journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday, said, “I’m hale and hearty. I am presently in California, United States.

“I wonder why people are making such insinuations. I’m alive and well. I’m in California in my study room. What a rumour!”
