Jonathan appoints anti-terrorism coordinator •Names replacement for Timi Alaibe

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Wednesday, fulfilled his promise to appoint a coordinator of government’s anti-terrorism efforts, in a bid to stem the rising tide of terrorist activities, including bombings, in the country.

President Jonathan had pledged to appoint a coordinator for anti-terrorism activities, following bombings in Jos, Plateau State and Mogadishu Barracks, Abuja, on Christmas and New Year’s eves respectively.

The former Director-General of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Zakari Ibrahim, was named the coordinator on anti-terrorism.

This is just as the wife of Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu, was named the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora Affairs.

According to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ima Niboro, other appointments approved by the president included that of Honourable Kingsely K. Kuku, who was named the new Senior Special Assistant, Niger Delta Affairs and Olugbenga Leke Oyewole, who was named Senior Special Assistant, Maritime Services.

Kuku replaced Mr Timi Alaibe, who recently resigned from the position to contest the Bayelsa State gubernatorial seat on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

All the appointments, according to the statement, took immediate effect.
