EFCC’s new office to gulp N18.8bn – FG
EFCC Politics, Latest Politics Tuesday, February 1st, 2011The Federal Government on Tuesday said that the construction of the permanent site of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will gulp over N18.8 billion just as the commission chairman, Mrs Farida Waziri, revealed that the anti graft agency had recovered about N11b within the last seven years.
The vice-president, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, who stated this in Abuja at the foundation laying ceremony of the new EFCC headquarters added that the building on completion would provide the required conducive environment for the crucial work of combating corruption in all its ramification.
He further stated that the foundation laying showed the present administration’s zero tolerance for corruption and its commitment to fighting the scourge by supporting anti-corruption agencies adding that good governance was a major product of a diligent and robust anti corruption work.
Alhaji Sambo who commended the EFCC said that the commission remained one of the most respected institutions of government domestically and internationally adding that it had brought pride to Nigeria, strengthened the nation’s democracy and helped to change the perception of Nigeria as an advance fee fraud nation.
In her own speech at the foundation laying ceremony, Mrs. Waziri stated that the commission had recovered about N11 billion adding that now that the commission is moving into its new site, it would achieve much more.
