JTF Command: Omoregie out, Ochoga in
Headlines, Niger Delta Tuesday, February 8th, 2011The nation’s Defence Headquarters in Abuja, has effected a major change in the leadership of the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta with the re-deployment of top officers, including Commander Charles Omoregie and other officers of the rank of colonel.
Major General Charles Omoregie is to be replaced with Major General Johnson Ochoga as the new Commander of the JTF in the region popularly as Operation Restore Hope, OPS. Until his new appointment, General Ochoga was the Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Bori Camp Port Harcourt.
He takes over from Major-General Omoregie, who had been redeployed to the Defence Headquarters, as Director of Procurement.
According to his profile issued by the JTF to newsmen in Yenagoa, “the new Commander of the JTF in the Niger Delta, General Johnson Ochoga 54, was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 26th Regular Course on June 28, 1979, and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps as a Second Lieutenant on June 19,
