Man, Wife, 3-yr-old kid, 2 Others Killed in Jos
Headlines Friday, February 11th, 2011STILL reeling from recent killings in the city of Jos, which led to the overhauling of security operatives, another tragedy struck in Jos South Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the death of five people, while nine others sustained injuries.
Saturday Tribune gathered that the incident occurred at about 7.30 p.m on Thursday when some gunmen stormed the premises of the Federal College of Land Resources Technology, Vom, Plateau State, shooting with the aim of stealing herds of cattle within the premises.
A source close to the college told Saturday Tribune that the assailants murdered the chief accountant of the college, Mr. Audu Chobe, his wife and three-year-old daughter in their sleep.
It further learnt that the marauders, who were said to be 20, also killed the college electrician, identified as Hosea, and the chief security officer of the college, Mr. Haruna Danjuma, and rustled his 30 cows within the vicinity.
Those in the vicinity further told Saturday Tribune that nine people within the college and nearby residential houses sustained serious injuries. The incident created tension and pandemonium in the locality, forcing the people to stay indoors early on Friday.
It also learnt that Police got to the scene of the incident shortly after the assailants had fled. Those who sustained injuries are presently receiving treatment at Christians Hospital, Vom, while the five corpses have been taken to the morgue in the hospital.
