Kaduna childless couples can now smile to labour room

It is a miracle centre. It is a medical centre in Kaduna where couples who have been married over the years without the fruit of the womb, can now smile to the labour room. The clinic with ultramodern fertility facilities has brought to Kaduna, couples from far away Lagos and Port Harcourt. It is called the Bridge Clinic

The clinic, according to itsmanaging director, Dr. Richardson Ajayi, was the Nigeria’s first and only International Standard Organization (ISO) accredited conception clinic, located in Ungwar-Rimi area of Kaduna metropolis. It was officially commissioned on January 26, 2011.

Ajayi said the clinic commenced operation in 1999, with a team of consultants from Kings College Hospital, London, to avail Nigerians, who hitherto had to travel aboard to get this treatment, quality IVF services at their door step. The first clinic was located in Victoria Island, Lagos, but it had since opened other branches in Ikeja, Port-Harcout and Kaduna:
“Couples wishing to achieve pregnancy can trust us to be their first and best choice, not just in Nigeria, but in the whole of Sub-Saharan Africa. Babies are bundle of joy and a delight to every family more so in our environment. We at the Bridge Clinic make it our business to provide our clients with the best chance of achieving pregnancy.

“The clinic has so far recorded the birth of over a thousand one hundred babies and counting since commencement of operations in the country in line with the vision of the organization: restoring the joy. Our activities are specific and they are geared towards giving hope to those who are hitherto deemed as childless. We do not offer other obstetric services and as such, we do not compete with existing gynecologists but rather act to complement them.”

Its management and staff had few days to the launch embarked on a state-wide distribution of child-friendly thermometers to hospitals, schools, mosques and churches in the state, as part of their corporate social responsibility:
“The burden of disease on African children due to febrile illnesses is enormous, with approximately one million deaths attributable to malaria alone. Under five mortality in Nigeria is about 186 per 1,000 live birth, given a figure of one in five children dying before his fifth birthday of preventable and treatable illnesses.
“This is why at the Bridge Clinic we are contributing in our own little way to the prevention of malaria and other childhood killer diseases. The forehead thermometers are user friendly and can easily be administered by parents and caregivers. These will serve as a useful diagnostic tool in detecting the early clinic signs of these dreadful diseases.

“Children are special gifts from God and are reminded of how precious they are to us. We are really thrilled at the opportunity to show our appreciation to children and give back to the community, something simple yet very useful.” Ajayi added.
The Bridge Clinic,  Daily Sun learnt, is apart from being ISO certified, is also accredited on a regular basis by TUV Austria and regulated by the UK’s Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority (HFEA) guidelines, due to  the absences of such regulatory bodies in Nigeria.
The introduction of the ultramodern fertility centre in Kaduna, without any doubt, according to most people present at the launch would bring with it tremendous benefits as the clinic and its team of medical professionals are set to change the face of health care delivery in the state.
