Tunisia, Egypt revolts can erupt in Nigeria, Iloh, Braithwaite
Africa & World Politics, Latest Politics Wednesday, February 16th, 2011Firebrand preacher, Rev. Moses Iloh and former presidential candidate, Nigeria Advanced Party (NAP), Dr. Tunji Braithwaite have warned of an imminent revolution in the country if politicians fail to put their acts together.
Both elder statesmen spoke to Daily Sun after the thanksgiving service to mark 81years birthday celebration of Rev. Moses Iloh held at Soul Winning Chapel, Ebute Meta, Lagos.
Speaking after the thanksgiving service, Rev. Iloh said his wish for Nigeria is a bloodless revolution to push out the greedy politicians.
According to him, Nigerians need to take advantage of what happened in Tunisia and Egypt as well as the situation in the country to prepare for a bloodless revolution. He warned politicians to sit up or the wind of change blowing around some African countries would send them away
Iloh said if what happened in Egypt had occurred in Nigeria, “our leaders would have asked the army with their armoured tanks to run over the protesters.” He, therefore, asked Nigerians to learn from the revolt in the two North African countries.
“Our political leaders do not know or fear God,” noting that, “the only time they remember God is during elections when they come for prayers and seek the face of the Lord to win elections.” He warned Nigerians to vote individuals who fear God.
The Shepherded of the Soul Winning Ministry Chapel asked churches in the country to release men of God to run for elections and warned Christians not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to scatter the country during the general elections.
“In the last 30 years, Nigerians have been voting wrongly, that is why things are not working in the country. Christians must not collect money from politicians to sell their votes. Our politicians are murderous, we will remain in this situation until people who fear God and have family are in authority,” he warned.
Dr. Braithwaite also told Daily Sun that revolution is imminent in the country adding, “I work and pray for a revolution to take place in the country. Things are very bad, don’t be deceived by the white wash you see, corruption has destroyed everything.
“I have no doubt in my heart that there is going to be a revolution in this country, sooner than we think. What happened in Tunisia and Egypt is possible in Nigeria. We need a revolution before we can have a lasting democracy.”
