Two persons were reportedly killed, while others sustained various degrees of injuries on Friday evening when some men suspected to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party clashed with some members of the Congress for Progressive Change in Iseyin, Oyo State.
Several vehicles were said to have been vandalised in the incident that left eight persons, including an infant in critical conditions.
Our correspondent learnt that trouble started when the PDP members, who were returning from Iseyin, where they earlier had a rally, met the CPC members, who were on their way to Ebedi Primary School for their rally.
A source identified one of the deceased as Amuda Gafar from Agbobamu Compund, Ekunle, Iseyin.
The source identified one Rilwan Okunlola as one of those on danger list in an undisclosed hospital.
Those receiving treatment were said to have sustained either bullet or machete wounds.
The CPC members were said to be in the convoy of the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Iseyin Federal Constituency, Mr. Olasupo Abiodun, when the incident occurred.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Baba Bolanta, confirmed that there was a clash and that vehicles were vandalised.
But he denied knowledge of any death in the encounter.
