Police arrest pastor, lady for defrauding students

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a pastor (name withheld), a lady and one other suspect for defrauding students of the Federal Clinic, Ado-Ekiti.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, Mr. Mohammed Jimoh, who paraded the suspects at the police headquarters on Thursday, said that the female suspect identified simply as Stella, was arrested with a fake booklet or receipt bearing Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.
He said that the police swung into action following a tip-off.
The PPRO added that rubber stamp bearing Intercontinental Bank, Ibadan Regional Zone, ink pad and a UBA ATM card were found on the female suspect.
The suspect, according to a statement made available to journalists, confessed to have defrauded unsuspecting students about N150,000.
The suspect, who narrated how she was able to swindle the students, said that she posed as an official of the bank and collected fees from students with the promise to pay to the bank.
However, the pastor, who was almost in tears, explained that he did not know anything about the crime.
