Joel, Ike Uche your joker, Adepoju tells Siasia
Uncategorized Tuesday, March 29th, 2011Super Eagles’ former winger, Mutiu Adepoju, has singled out the duo of Inter Milan’s attacking midfielder, Joel Obi and Real Zaragoza FC of Spain’s forward, Ikechukwu Uche, as the most outstanding players in the Eagles emphatic victory over Antelopes of Ethiopia last weekend at the National Stadium, Abuja.
Adepoju, who made the commendation while fielding questions from the sports writers at the Glass House in Abuja on Tuesday, noted that it was a good return for the recuperating Spain-based forward, who scored a brace, adding that he would not have asked for more.
“All the players did very well in that match but I think Joel played exceptionally well.
He was a delight to watch in the midfield, initiating attack and coordinating well with Mikel. Ike Uche also did very well. I mean he would not have asked for more, considering the fact that he just came back from injury. He scored wonderful goals. It was a good return for him,” he said.
Asked his general assessment of the team, the Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) general manager noted that Chief Coach Samson Siasia had much work to do in building the team, even as he admitted that it was a very good result against Ethiopia.
“The team’s performance against Ethiopia was very excellent.
It was a sweet victory, but it will be wrong to say that the team is ready to challenge big teams. I think Siasia still have much to do in the team,” he said.
