State affairs: ACN declares Yakowa missing
Action Congress of Nigeria, Headlines, Kaduna, Party Politics, State News Tuesday, October 25th, 2011The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Kaduna State chapter has said that with the increasing spate of insecurity in the State, Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa may have lost grip of the state’s affairs.
To this end, the ACN has declared Yakowa missing for allegedly paying nonchalant attitude to the plights of the people, but decided to be part of the entourage of President Goodluck Jonathan going to Australia recently.
However, in a swift reaction, Yakowa’s media spokesperson, Reuben Buhari said,“It is a pity that the ACN in Kaduna State is bent on inciting the Good people of Kaduna with falsehood and pure mischief. But the state government remains resolutely focused in its quest of transforming Kaduna State.
“The governor is attending the Commonwealth Business Forum in Perth, Australia alongside the President of Nigeria and other state governors.
“His Excellency left the State in the capable hands of the Deputy Governor, Ramalan Yero who has been splendidly handling the situation and all government machineries are working perfectly.”
In a press statement made available to newsmen yesterday by the state ACN publicity secretary, Mordecai Sunday Ibrahim noted if the Kaduna State Government was serious about the security of lives and property of its citizens, the discovery of Kaduna bound alleged terrorists in Bauchi State by men of the Bauchi State Police command last month would have served as a lesson to the government to avert some recent attacks in the state.
The ACN statement also pointed out that only Sunday evening at about 6pm, three unidentified armed men shot and killed a police man attached to the state operation Yaki, and a trader inside his shop at Katari along Abuja expressway of the state.
“Governor Patrick Yakowa should therefore be told in clear terms that he should brace-up, face and provide good governance as well as ensure the security of the lives and property of the Kaduna State citizens or resign and go home,” the statement added.
ACN further disclosed that about three weeks ago, there were security reports advising government to tighten security around what is known as the Internationally Recognized Grazing Fields (IRGF) in some parts of Kaduna State which have very thick forest boundaries with Plateau and Bauchi States, but government allegedly paid deaf ears to the advice.
“This government must be blamed for all that has befallen the state especially as while the state is burning, Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa has chosen to be on the advance team of President Goodluck Jonathan to Australia at the detriment of the security of lives and properties of the people of Kaduna State knowing that his deputy is already very busy with pilgrims as the state 2011 Amirul Hajj. The consequence of this is that the state will soon be without a governor when the Deputy Governor finally leaves for Saudi Arabia.
“It is worthy of note that a serious and security conscious government should as matter of necessity and priority immediately establish static watch points across those areas. The truth is that for almost five months since the escalation of instability in the state, there is no point in time that the areas were not considered potent threats but the government has continued to exhibit crass negligence.
“If the Kaduna State government were serious about the security of the lives and properties of its citizens, the discovery of Kaduna bound alleged terrorists in Bauchi State by men of the Bauchi State Police command last month would have served as a lesson but it was ignored hence the blood bath in Fadiya on Friday and Saminaka on Sunday.
“As responsible and patriotic citizens, we are concerned that three weeks ago, there were security reports advising government to tighten security around what is known as the Internationally Recognized Grazing Fields (IRGF) in some parts of Kaduna State which have very thick forest boundaries with Plateau and Bauchi States. We are by this referring to the thick forest between Idon village of Kajuru Local Government Area and Agunu, a Ward in Kachia Local Government Area.
“It was expected that the Kaduna State Government would have heeded security Agencies’ advice and facilitated the establishment of serious patrol and surveillance around the earlier mentioned IRGF because there might be lots of sinister activities taking place there, the statement said.”
