The Air Officer Commanding, Nigerian Air Force Training Command, Kaduna, Air Vice Marshall Ibrahim Salihu, is dead.
The air force general died on Thursday morning as arrangements were being made to fly him to Bahrain for medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
The Public Relations Officer, NAF Training command, Kaduna, Squadron Leader Aliyu Kabir, confirmed the development to THE PUNCH.
Kabir said he would be buried in his hometown in Niger State today.
According to http://www.nigerianairforce.net/airofficers/AirOfficers_AOC_TC.aspx, the air force general was born on April 23, 1959.
He started his military career at the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna in 1976 and was commissioned on July 3, 1979.
Ibrahim was Command Intelligence Officer in Tactical Air Command Makurdi and served in Liberia during the ECOMOG Operations in 1990. He was also Staff Officer Grade 1 (Intelligence) and Deputy Director Intelligence, Nigerian Air Force.
In addition, he was Director Intelligence at Defence Intelligence Agency. Again he was a Directing Staff to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji and National Defence College, Abuja.
Furthermore, he served as Director Air Intelligence, Nigerian Air Force, Headquarters, Director Personnel Services at the Defence Headquarters and Chief of Standards and Evaluation, Nigerian Air Force Headquarters. AVM Salihu hold a Master Degree in Strategic Studies before being appointed as the Air Officer Commanding Training Command Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna in March 2011.
He was married with children.
