Keshi addressing Super Eagles players before training started on Monday
The Nigerian national football team; styled the Super Eagles rounded off their training sessions in Nigeria for the Nations Cup qualifier against the Rwanda national team, mid-Monday with a resolve to approach the encounter in Kigali with all the seriousness it deserves.
As expected the foreign-based legion added fillip to the team with the gait and colour they usually bring to camp.
Head Coach Stephen Keshi was firmly directing affairs. The horde of the Nigerian sporting media was also at the FIFA Goal Project site of the training session to assess just how ready their national team is for the battle of Kigali.
At the end of the training session that lasted for over two hours, with emphasis on speed, agility, stamina and absolute concentration, Keshi said he was satisfied with the level of fitness of the team. All the players were in gay mood and there was a considerable level of blending between the local and foreign based players that got the onlookers wondering whether the players have known themselves for long.
As the team was preparing for the task ahead, former NFA Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, said he has been impressed with the attitude of the technical crew of the national team led by Keshi.
“Honestly, I think at this time in our national football history we would not have had a better handler than Keshi. He called me on phone about two days ago and I told him that I have been following his track record and I think with the opportunity he has given to both local and foreign-based players he would definitely succeed.”
Galadima admonished Keshi and the team to remain focused and stay out of the politics of the game for success to come their way.
