Head of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare has given insight into why the State Security Service (SSS), invited him for a chat last Monday, saying it was a clear indication that there was panic in the enemies’ camp.
Bakare, who spoke with journalists at his Lagos church yesterday disclosed that he was never detained or asked to write a statement let alone released on bail, disclosing that “they persuaded me to always tone down my message.”
Quoting from the scripture as usual, Bakare pointed out that “notable miracle the enemies cannot deny must have happened,” asserting that “they have realized that with Ojota rally in June, social mobility in Nigeria is no more frozen because the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) has restored voice to the voiceless.”
The plan of the authority to have his messages toned down, especially on political issues and when it affect the person of President Goodluck Jonathan, according to the cleric, was “to prevent the truth from being told to the world.” While making bold to say that he could not be threatened or intimidated, the activist cum politician vowed to continue to preach the message once the message was within the ambit of the law, just as he admonished his members to always “stay with your element and learn to use choice words and speak the truth to power and not rumour.”
He, therefore, warned that the prophet must not be intimidated or else “you will infuriate him and bring judgement upon yourself.” He revealed that he told the SSS director who alleged that he was being partisan that his message, since the military era had not changed. He added that the said SSS director that “a corrupt, perverse, wasteful, directionless and clueless government is offensive to every intelligent patriot in this nation.”
Bakare, who blamed the present sorry state of the nation on the antics of wicked politicians, vowed to fight on, saying “there is no more pretence, we shall now go the whole hog,” believing that even the ongoing attempt at bringing some suspected subsidy scam culprits to book would not yield anything.
His words: “Concerning all the window dressing, the shenanigans and the charade going on in respect of the subsidy thieves, it is my considered opinion that the efforts of this government cannot deliver justice, neither are they meant to.”
