Ministers and officials of the newly established Ogun Province 11 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) headquartered in Ikenne Remo, on Tuesday, visited Chief (Mrs) HID Awolowo to congratulate and pray for her on 97 birthday.

Head of the over 6,000-member province, Pastor Olusesan Olayinka, who led other ministers on the visit, said the visit was at the instance of the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in recognition of HID’s God-given role as the mother of the nation.

Pastor Olayinka, who prayed for continued good health and vitality for the celebrant, described the sage’s wife as a “very strong pillar in the church of the living God” and a mother who radiates the wisdom of the elders.

As part of the church’s corporate social responsibility, the province donated a 7.5 kilo-volt ampere generator to Dideolu Specialist Hospital, Ikenne Remo.

Other ministers in the delegation included the wife of the provincial pastor, Pastor (Mrs) M.A Olayinka; Pastor Bankole Omopariola; Pastor Talabi Odutola; Elder Fapuro Akinola; and Elder Oluwole Opafuye.

In her response, the host expressed gratitude to the church for the visit and the donation, saying there was nothing she could do without prayers.

She promised to call Pastor Adeboye, whom she described as a friend of the Awolowo family, to also thank him and the church for the visit, the gift and their prayers.

Earlier, pastors from the Apostolic Church in Nigeria led by Pastor Z.O Odugbose also visited Chief (Mrs) Awolowo and held a service to commemorate her natal celebration in Ikenne Remo. Each of the pastors from the church took turns to pray for the nonagenarian.

Also, the Ogun State coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs T.I Anosike, led over 2,000 corps members from the state on a celebratory visit to the celebrant.

“We appreciate and thank you for all that you have done towards the uplift of our society, especially the warm welcome you have always accorded the NYSC,” she said.
