Ex-Super Eagles coach Keshi’s wife, Kate, buried amid eulogies

Wife of former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, Kate Keshi, was buried in Benin, Edo State, on Friday, amid eulogies.

Mrs Keshi, who died on December 9 in the United States during a protracted battle with cancer, was interred at the family residence in Ugiokhuen Quartres, Ugbor Road, Benin.

Before she was committed to mother earth, a funeral mass was held for her at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin.

The event was attended by friends and family members of the deceased, members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), former Nigerian internationals and sports journalists.

Some of those in attendance included the Technical Director of the NFF, Shaibu Amodu; Ex-Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen; former assistant coach to Keshi, Daniel Amokachi and chairman of the Edo State Football Federation, Frank Ilaboya.

Keshi, who spoke to journalists shortly after the event, described his wife as a unique woman who would be greatly missed.

“She was a unique wife, a wife that I think any man would love to have.

I am honoured that despite their busy time, they (guests) came out to give their last respect to my wife. Most of them knew my wife and I believe that is why they are here. I thank them, the press and all Nigerians for being in prayer with my family.”
