“We are not going to control the pandemic” Trump administration admits

(NNP) With only seven days to the presidential elections in the United States, the Trump administration admitted that it had given up on containing the pandemic and instead is focused on therapeutics and the long awaited vaccine to control the virus. While been interviewed by CNN’s  Jake Tapper on the “State of the Union” program on Sunday, the White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, stated “We are not going to control the pandemic.” When pressed by Mr. Tapper to explain why, Meadows further stated, “because it is a contagious disease.”

This declaration has given the Biden campaign more ammunition in the closing days of the campaign to paint Trump as incompetent in his management of the pandemic. They point to large crowds that gather at his campaign rallies usually with little or no physical distancing with many not wearing masks. They claim that such behavior is in violation of his own administration’s guidelines and contributes to the spread of the virus. More than 226,000 American have died from the virus with 8.6 million infected. Biden leads in all national polls by 10 percentage points. Early voting show that more than 60 million Americans have voted, a record number. The official voting is scheduled for November 3.
