Christian leaders write Jonathan on Borno, Plateau carnage

THE National Prayer Movement (NPM), on Tuesday, said the ceaseless carnage in Borno and Plateau states portended danger for the corporate existence of the country.

In an open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, the organisation asked him to immediately demonstrate the necessary political will by tracking down the masterminds of the crises before the situation got out of hand.

According to the NPM in the letter signed by the general secretary, Mr. Olugbemiga Olakunle, the sponsors of the violence and political killings are not ghosts but humans who live among the people.

It further stated that the administration should handle the security challenge posed by the current development with the urgency it deserved because of its far-reaching implication for the April poll and the survival of the country.

“Under normal circumstances, the Federal Government ought to have declared a state of emergence in Plateau and Borno states to effectively tackle the security challenges in these states.
