Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, has played up his side’s chances of qualifying for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, following its lack lustre goalless draw with Rwanda in Kigali last month.

The Super Eagles, playing their first competitive game under Stephen Keshi, did not look superb against the Wasps. ”I believe the national team is being rebranded at this moment and we would surely get it right when Rwanda visits in June,” Enyeama said.

It will be a different ball game entirely. (The Rwandans) showed much promise but they will have no hiding place in Abuja during the return leg. We shall roast them,” said the keeper who admitted that they played below expectations in the game.

He moved from Israeli club, Hapoel, Tel Aviv to French side, Lille, last year but has failed to pin down a starting place,owing to stiff competition from France keeper, Mickael Landreau.

That was not enough to stop him from keeping his place in the Nigerian set up where he performed well to keep the Wasps at bay. ”I really appreciate coaches Keshi, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmu for giving me the opportunity to feature in the game. ”I have always tried hard to serve my fatherland and live up to expectations of Nigerians whenever I am in goalpost .

I am determined to make Nigerians happy. Hopefully, very soon, I will get the chance to feature regularly at club level, so that my fans back home can celebrate one of their own again.”
Enyeama corrected the impression that he was being courted by English clubs, Arsenal and Bolton, as many had hoped that with his impressive performance at the 2010 World Cup, he would be making a big money move to the Premier League.”

I think those reports were mere speculations.
I guess the English clubs did not really make a move for me in the first place.
I heard reports that Bolton and Arsenal wanted to sign me, but those were mere reports as none of the clubs contacted me at all.”

Perhaps, they feel that I am not big enough or that I am not a type of goalkeeper they want in their teams. I was not really moved by those reports, but I was very determined to make a head way wherever I go,” Enyeama said
