Hell let loose in Congo •As Sunshine Stars hold Motema 0-0 •Nigerian officials, players, journalists beaten

HELL was let loose in Kinshasa, Congo Dr after Sunshine Stars Football Club forced home team, Motema Pembe to a 0-0 draw in a CAF Confederation Cup match played yesterday.
Before the game, some fans of Motema Pembe stormed the team hotel and prevented them from leaving for the stadium in time and immediately referee Kord Mohammed blew the final whistle at Stade des Martyrs, the fans swooped on the Nigerian contingent which includes, officials, players and journalists.
Not even the presence of fierce looking policemen could scare them as they went haywire, hauling missiles at the visitors.
Sunshine Stars’ officials who sat at the VIP stand in the stadium were beaten blue and black, while the Nigerian Tribune reporter, Mr Tosin Omojola, who accompanied the team to Congo was beaten mercilessly and his digital camera damaged as he was later treated and discharged at nearby hospital.
Speaking after the game, Executive Director of Ondo Football Agency (ODFA), Mike Idoko said, “we give God the glory for the draw and we thank governor Mimiko for his words of encouragement before the match.”
The team will return to Nigeria this morning
A win for the Akure club in their final group game with JS Kabylie of Algeria on September 17 in Ijebu Ode, will see them qualify for the semi finals of the competition.
