Keshi: I’m ready for Eagles’ challenge

Nigerian former captain, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has expressed readiness to become the Super Eagles’ coach if considered for the job by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Speaking with a local radio station, the Hawks of Togo former coach said that he would do his best to return the national team to its past glory if considered for the job by the NFF.

“I will not turn down the offer if Nigeria seeks my services. I’ve served my country in the past and in different capacities. It’s always a honour and a thing of joy to serve your fatherland,” he noted.

Keshi lamented the Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations, assuring that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
“We have the talents who can make the country proud. All that is needed to be done is to harness the talents and prepare them for the challenges ahead. It is also important for the whole nation to pray for the coaching crew and give it 100 per cent support to succeed. The whole nation is in deep pain and the only way to appease the fans is to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup and the World Cup.”

The Big Boss as he is fondly called led Togo to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He has since submitted a fresh application to coach the tiny West African country. There are unconfirmed reports that the one-time Super Eagles captain alongside Sunday Oliseh is likely to be announced as replacement for Samson Siasia by NFF on Friday.
