Nigerians’ll resist oil subsidy removal —TMG

The chairman of the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), Comrade Mashud Erubami, said on Tuesday that Nigerians would resist the proposed removal of oil subsidy despite the insistence of President  Goodluck Jonathan.

The civil society activist, in a statement in Ibadan, said that the proposed step by the Federal Government, which  has grave consequences for Nigerians, had once  again shown the god that the country leaders are serving.

“Nigerians will not only resist the idea but ask members of the National Assembly questions on their functions of legislating, oversight and representation as a key government institution,” he said.

He maintained that, “there is satanic pressure on the president  to remove oil subsidy at all cost  by a  few greedy Nigerians.”

According to Erubami, the reasons being adduced by government for the subsidy removal is unjustifiable because these same reasons had been given in the past when there was subsidy removal which did not achieve anything beyond doubling the jeopardy of Nigerians.

“We have had enough of unfulfilled government palliatives, such as buying more buses to ease transportation, build new roads and rehabilitate  old ones and increase spending on education. These promises are only put forward to deceive Nigerians to accept the removal of oil subsidy when, indeed, the revenue realised from the subsidy removal is shared among those who have access to government and national resources,”he declared.

It, therefore,  called on the National Assembly not to be swayed by the blackmail of government lobbyists.
