PDP reads riot act to members ahead Jonathan’s visit

THE Peoples Democratic Party PDP yesterday said that it would be sacrilegious for any member of the party either within or outside Ondo State to work against Chief Olusola Oke, its governorship candidate in the October 20 election.

National Vice Chairman of the party in the South West Chief Segun Oni said this in Akure while briefing newsmen on the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the rounding off of the governorship campaign of the party on Saturday. President Jonathan is to lead other National leaders of the party to the state to shore up support for the candidate of the party and to dispel rumour that the President was not favourable disposed to the candidature of Oke.

Oni, who was the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, warned of dire consequences for any party member or leader who engages in anti-party activities ahead of the polls.

“If any party member works against the candidature of Chief Oke in this coming governorship election we will not take it kindly. This is a time of battle every grudges should be suspended. This is a collective battle and we need to fight to bring back the lost glory of the party and at the same time sing a glorious song. The best thing for anyone who doesn’t buy into this is to travel out of the state otherwise the national body of the party would not take kindly to anti party activities in this governorship election. The PDP is not only ready for this October 20 governorship election but we are going to win fair and square.”

Speaking on the present administration, Oni said the Mimiko administration has done its best but that the coming PDP government would surpass the Mimiko administration. Oni called on the people of the state not to vote for the ACN so that the state would not be an appendage of other states in the South-West.
