We’ll finish Eagles in Abuja – Guinea

With her 13 points lead in the Nations Cup Group 2 qualifying series, Guinea is not ready to surrender the ticket to Nigeria’s Super Eagles when both sides file out in a make or mar encounter next month in Abuja.

According to Nichel Dussuyer, coach of Guinea’s national team, his boys were prepared to die on the pitch than to allow the leadership of the group slip off their hands. The Guinean team, likely to storm Abuja on a charter flight, is psychologically ready to further unsettle Eagles and smile home with the Nations Cup ticket.

Information had it that the visiting team could be avoiding any unfriendly reception it might encounter on arriving in Nigeria and the Guinean football officials had decided to hire a flight for the trip.

The Guineans were excited about the 2pm match kick off time and had been briefed that all the group matches would be played at the same time by the Confederation of Africa Football, (CAF). The Syli Nationale’s coach believes his team is still far from qualifying for the 2012 competition, saying that the team still has a big hurdle to cross in Abuja.

“Our destiny is in our hands. The only hypothesis where our destiny could avoid us is that we are not competing against Nigeria and Madagascar. Both teams are far from us in the group,” Dussuyer told Guineenews
He, however, said his team was not under any pressure, addding that Guinea’s position in the group has been giving Coach Samson Siasia and his boys severe pressure.

He would not like to reveal the list of the 30 players he shortlisted for the match, adding that only the final list of 23 players who will execute would later be announced.
Meanwhile, Guinea has applied to host the 2019 Nations Cup.
According to Blasco Barry, Feguifoot received a letter of guarantee from the country’s department of sports for the candidacy of Guinea to the organisation of Nations Cup in 2019
