28,000 militants so far benefit in FG amnesty program –Presidency
Niger Delta, Presidency Sunday, February 3rd, 2013Verification exercise for the last phase of the amnesty programme
for the ex-militants in the Niger Delta region of the country has
kicked off, the special adviser to the President on Niger Delta,
Kingley Kuku has disclosed.
Kuku said the exercise when concluded would take care of
additional 3,000 ex- militants in the going amnesty programme of
the Federal Government.
The special Adviser explained that already about 28,000 ex-
militants are currently accommodated by the amnesty programme,
adding that the program will end in 2015.
Commenting on militants who are not captured in the current
amnesty programme, he added that the mandate of the programme
is for 30,000 militants who have surrendered their arms.
He warned Militants who are vandalising oil pipe lines to desist as
the long arm of law will soon catch up with them.
