Former Eagles Captain, Nwankwo Kanu has tipped the African champions to bounce back from the 1-1 draw they got against the Harambee Stars of Kenya in a 2014 World Cup qualifying race.
The Coach Stephen Keshi-tinkered Nigerian side, weekend at the U.J Esuene Stadium in Calabar, needed a last-gasp Nnamdi Oduamadi eqaaliser to avoid an embarrassing home defeat against the Kenyans, who before the game, had not won in 11 previous meetings.
The draw allowed Malawi to join Eagles at the top on five points.
The Nigerians who must now win their remaining matches in order to pick the sole qualifying ticket to the the final round, where the winner of the pool will square up against another group winner in a winner takes all two-legged battle.
Speaking after the match in Calabar, Kanu, said that all hope was not yet lost for the Eagles to rescue their World Cup dream, pointing out that what happened in the CanaanLand, was one of those things that make football an unpredictable game.
The former Arsenal forward said that the Harambee Stars came to Nigeria with a game plan to frustrate the Eagles, who he noted, did not play their game, allowing the Kenyans to have a field day and run away with a point.
“I believe that we can bounce back from this draw and qualify for the World Cup”, said Kanu.
