Army/Police Clash: IGP Promises Prosecution Of Killers

HAFIIZ RINGIM,NIGERIA INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE

Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, has stated that top hierarchy of the both the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force have resolved to prosecute those involved in the recent clash between his men and some soldiers in Badagry.

The police boss made the disclosure at the commissioning of a multi-million naira building for the Nigerian Police Force Microfinance Bank, named after one his predecessors in office, Alhaji Aliyu Attah in Lagos.

“It is a very tragic development, but we are still moving ahead and we are finding a solution to its end and I can only give you this assurance that those who committed this crime no matter who they are, we have resolved and had given our firm commitment to see justice come to pass.” Commenting on the fate of the three police officers, Ringim said,“We have addressed this issue with the Chief of Army staff who even came to my office.

In fact, this is the first time a serving chief of staff of the army is visiting a serving IGP in order to exchange ideas. The meeting discussed the way forward and jointly, we addressed our respective services and we assured all of fair play when a common matter afflicts all of us.” The police boss said.

On the fate of the three police officers, he said, “I can only assure you of our commitment to see to the end of this.
“Whether the three police men that have been arrested have been found culpable or not, the true picture of what really happened will be found out and those behind the shameful act will be brought to book.”
