Atiku not qualified to be Nigeria’s president

ABOUT 24 hours to the presidential primaries of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, former members of the National Assembly from the 21 states of the North have kicked against the presidential aspiration of former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The ex-National Assembly members from the North, who met in Kaduna under the aegis of the Forum of Former Northern Parliamentarians for National Unity, declared that Abubakar was not qualified to become the president of the country in the next dispensation.
According to the ex-Northern lawmakers, the former vice president has demonstrated by his recent utterances that he will not be a leader that all Nigerians, irrespective of religion and ethnic origin, can rely on.
The former National Assembly members therefore endorsed the aspiration of President Goodluck Jonathan and directed Northern delegates to the PDP presidential primaries to cast their votes for him in the interest of the Nigerian nation and the people.
FONPNU said at a news conference addressed by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jonathan Asake, that the recent statements credited to Abubakar in the media during his visit to Bayelsa and Rivers states where he reportedly said that he would rather focus his campaign for the PDP presidential ticket on the Northern states which he said had more delegates than those of the two southern states, did not portray him as a true pan-Nigeria leader.
Abubakar had reportedly said during his visit to the two South South states that he only needed to campaign in the North which has 61 per cent of the delegates and not in the South with only 39 per cent of the delegates to the PDP presidential primaries.
He was said to have derisively added that his visit to Bayelsa State was a mere formality because the number of PDP delegates from the state was not even up to that of a senatorial district in Kano State.wp_posts
