Compaore congratulates Jonathan, seeks regional unity
Africa & World Politics, Goodluck Jonathan (2010-present), Presidency Friday, April 22nd, 2011President Blaise Campaore of Burkina Faso has joined other world leaders to congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for his victory in the last Presidential election which he described as open and transparent as attested to by local and international observers.
In the felicitation letter personally signed by Compaore, he said the people of Nigeria voted massively for Jonathan to fulfill their dreams for good governance and national unity and urged the President-elect to use his position to foster national unity within Nigeria and sub-regional Africa .
“The Nigerian people will embrace your company to project a strong nation and fulfill their dreams of good governance by voting you to the highest office through the outcome of the presidential election that was free, open and transparent on April 16, 2011.
“The serenity and respect for republican principles in this election, highly praised by the entire international community reflect real progress in entrenchment of democracy and establishment of good governance in your country. “On behalf of the Burkinabe Government and myself, I send you my warmest congratulations and wish you every success in your ambition of building a Nigerian society of solidarity and shared prosperity.
“I salute the convergence of our views on major international issues and I am reiterating the commitment of Burkina Faso in promoting a dynamic and exemplary cooperation with the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
