Enyeama saves Lille, Utaka scores

Lille recorded a vital away win against Toulouse at the Stadium Municipal on Saturday and it was all thanks to goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama whose performance ensured their hosts did not take advantage of his team’s weak defence line in the 2-1 win.

Enyeama was virtually left at the mercy of the Toulouse strikers after two of his defenders were given the marching order with 20 minutes left to play. Franck Béria was sent off in the 68th minute, while Pape Souaré got his red card in the 70th. Both had their cautions in the first half.

With goals from Nolan Roux (26th) and Salomon Kalou (42nd), Enyeama kept a clean slate, stopping four shots on target until Serge Aurier beat him in the third minute of additional to give Toulouse a consolatory goal.

The return of Joseph Yobo from injury could not help Norwich City on Saturday as West Brom secured the points courtesy of a 16th minute goal from Morgan Amalfitano. Yobo had been away due to a calf injury.

Victor Anichebe, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for West Brom.

John Utaka scored his fifth goal this season in the third minute for Sivasspor but his efforts were not enough as Bursaspor came from behind to win the match 4-3 on Sunday.

Chinedu Obasi was on for 72 minutes before being substituted with Max Meyer as Schalke 04 held Werder Bremen to a 1-1 draw at the Weserstadion in the German Bundesliga on Saturday. It was Obasi’s 10th appearance for the club this season.

Obinna Nsofor also failed to net a goal for Chievo as they lost the Verona derby 1-0 to visiting Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on Saturday.

Nsofor was substituted in the 59th minute with Cyril Théréau before the visitors took the lead in the 65th.

But it was a different story for Nnamdi Oduamadi who scored his fourth goal for Serie B side Varese as they defeated Juve Stabia 4-2 in an away game on Saturday.

The on-loan forward from AC Milan scored in the 21st minute, adding to Loris Damonte’s second minute opener, and followed by goals from Leonardo Pavoletti and Luca Forte.

Efe Ambrose was on for the entire duration in Celtic’s 2-0 away win against Dundee United at Tannadice Park in the Scottish Premier League. The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner has now featured in all his club’s 33 league games this season, starting all except one, and has only been subbed twice.

Although Michael Eneramo was unable to score for Karabükspor when they played away at Godfrey Oboabona’s  Rizespor, the visitors were still victors courtesy of a lone goal from midfielder Furkan Özcal. Oboabona made his 13th appearance for the club this season, while it was Eneramo’s 11th on Saturday.

Sylvester Igboun registered his eighth goal for FC Midtjylland in the Danish league but it was not enough as they went down 3-2 to AaB who rode on the victory to top the log, one point ahead of Midtjylland. Igboun’s compatriot, Rilwan Hassan, was on for 67 minutes before being substituted.
