Players and officials of Falconets have arrived the city of Tokyo ahead of their quarter final match against Mexico scheduled for Thursday. The team’s media officer, Ejiro Femi Babafemi, told Daily Sunsports that they were lodged at Hilton Hotel in the heart of the city and had the feel of the playing turf earlier in the day.
She confirmed that the team was now in possession of Mexico team tapes to prepare them on what to expect. “We arrived in Tokyo this afternoon and are lodged at the Hilton Hotel. We had our first training at the Ajinomoto stadium in Tokyo ahead of our quarter final match against Mexico.
“The coaches have taken delivery of the match tape against Italy to study.” Falconets favourites, Desire Oparanozie and Chidinma Okoro, got FIFA’s clean bill of health having taken the players’ urine sample for a doping test. Meanwhile, Chief Coach of the Falconets, Edwin Okon, has beaten his cheat that his girls would win the Under-20 Women’s World Cup currently going on in Japan.
The optimistic coach, who saw his wards trounce Italy four-nil in their last group B game on Sunday, sees no team stopping his squad. “We always come to the World Cup to win it. We were close in 2010. We still aim for the final, and this time, we just hope that the result will be different.” The Falconets play Mexico in the quarter-finals on Thursday after they also hit New Zealand 4-0 to finish second in Group A behind Japan.
