I’ll ensure economic recovery, employment generation – Jonathan to world leaders
Goodluck Jonathan (2010-present), Presidency Friday, June 17th, 2011President Goodluck Jonathan has assured world leaders, employers and workers around the world that his government will build on the national aspiration and the solid political foundation, as reflected in the 2011 general election in Nigeria, to ensure quick economic recovery, employment generation, social justice and equity, national growth and development.
This assurance was given on Thursday by the country at the ongoing 100th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland,
The Nigerian government also vowed before the international community to be very committed to the implementation of all the core International Labour Standards which it had ratified in order to achieve decent work for all.
In the absence of a substantive minister, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Mr Anthony Ozodinobi, who is the leader of the delegation to the conference, presented Nigeria’s position between 3.02p.m. and 3.08p.m., Switzerland time.
Mr Ozodinobi said: “In line with our new national aspirations as exemplified by the recent globally acclaimed general election, President Goodluck Jonathan will build on this solid political foundation based on transparency, accountability and citizen support to ensure economic recovery, including youth employment.
“Furthermore, the president has expressed his avowed commitment to the implementation of the core international labour standards, all of which Nigeria had ratified, in order to achieve decent work for all.”
