Keshi’s rebuilding process in right direction – Omokaro

Former Super Eagles defender, Bright Omokaro says Stephen Keshi’s decision to build the new Super Eagles around home based professionals is a right step in the right direction ahead of the World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers.
Omokaro told Saturday Vanguard sports in an exclusive interview that Keshi’s last two international friendly matches against Egypt and Peru would give him an advantage to correct the mistakes identified when the Eagles file out against Namibia on Sunday.
The one time player of the defunct New Nigerian Bank of Benin said the new identity of the team has shown that Keshi was towing the steps of former Eagles coach Clemens Westerhof who also built the solid 1994 team through local players that later became professionals.
He stressed that the international friendly against Egypt and Peru have affirmed Eagles’ readiness to confront all the countries they will be playing in the World Cup and Nations Cup qualifiers, adding that Keshi should only consider foreign-based professionals who are commanding regular shirts at their clubs and shouldn’t allow any body impose players on him.
“I see Keshi performing because he started with a better formation, trying to groom home based players. Westerhof did it during his time and it paid off. If you have the local players and they are focused and you add la few foreign-based players, I think it is going to refine the Eagles.
