NFF intervenes in Keshi, Yobo row

Nigeria Football Federation president, Aminu Maigari, has directed the technical committee of the football body to resolve the disagreement between Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi and the national team captain, Joseph Yobo.
Yobo, who criticised the coach on how he was left out of the squad in the World Cup qualifier against Kenya in Calabar last month, became the third Nigeria player to question Keshi’s attitude towards his players.
It started with Osaze Odemwingie who went on Twitter to vent his anger, then Emmanuel Emenike complained of being ‘used and dumped’ by the coach. Yobo took it from there and went on radio, saying Keshi did not respect him as the team captain.
Maigari, who described the exchange between player and coach as worrisome, said the technical committee must address the matter urgently.
“This is a highly untoward development. The NFF and the entire Nigeria football family are disturbed. Less than two months ago, we lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in a blaze of glory, and this was made possible by hard work and teamwork in an atmosphere of peace, unity and tranquillity,” Maigari said on Thursday.
“The recent exchange of words between coach Keshi and captain Yobo is worrisome, at a time that we have so many important matches and major competitions ahead of us. I have directed the chairman of the technical committee and his members to immediately intervene and restore sanity.”
Yobo has again been excluded from the list of players to prosecute the June matches which include FIFA Confederations Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
