Obama to receive Jonathan in White House

PRESIDENCY has announced that the United States President, Barack Obama, would receive Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, at the White House in Washington DC on June 8 at 4:40 pm local time.
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, Jonathan, who is billed to arrive New York to participate in a high-level Summit on HIV/AIDS and the impact of the viral disease on international peace and security, would take a break and head for Washington for the meeting with Obama before returning to New York same day.
It also said that Jonathan will also participate in the launching of the Global Plan for Elimination of HIV: Mother-To-Child Transmission Oroject with former United States President, Bill Clinton, on June 9 in New York before returning to Nigeria on June 10.
Nigeria is currently one of the nine non-permanent members of the UN Security Council and Jonathan is also expected to participate in one of the Security Council sessions that may decide on a second term for the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.
