PDP dissolves executive council in Ondo
Ondo, Party Politics, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), State News Sunday, September 11th, 2011The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has dissolved its executive council to reposition the party and restore unity, the National Legal Adviser, Chief Olusola Oke, has announced.|
Oke said at a PDP senatorial meeting at Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state that, “We are the largest party in Nigeria and we are repositioning to secure the centre stage of power from the ruling party in Ondo State.
“All aggrieved leaders have been appeased and reconciled; we saw the need to bring about new faces for the purpose of taking power, hence the dissolution.’’ The national legal adviser explained that the party had persuaded the executive council members to step aside to allow for constitution of a transition committee to run the party’s affairs until the next congress.
“Revalidation of members’ registration is also about to begin and the committee set up to review the laws of the party at the national level has started work.’’
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Solomon Bitire, the party’s Chairman in Okitipupa, described the dissolution as a good development. “We are waxing stronger and should have 85 to 90 per cent of the votes at the next elections in the state.
