Rumble in Lagos: Holyfield rides in yet to be launched GAC flagship SUV

World Heavyweight Boxing Champion, Evander Holyfield was the first to ride in GAC Motor flagship SUV in Nigeria, when the official vehicle sponsors of Rumble in Lagos picked up the champion from the airport on arrival from the United States of America for the programme on Tuesday. Though the new SUV has not been officially launched in Nigeria, it was the cynosure of all eyes as the former world champion stepped into the car to the admiration of spectators at the airport.

In celebration of the 50th (golden) anniversary of the creation of Lagos State, GAC Motors is partnering with the state as the Official Car Company for the spectacular Rumble in Lagos sports-entertainment event.

The first of its kind on the African continent, the event featured a boxing contest between former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, kitted up in shorts and boxing gloves, sparring with former five-time world heavy weight boxing champion, Evander Holyfield, in an awe-inspiring match, refereed by Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka. The event, is in line with the vision of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode vision to put Lagos on the global sports and entertainment map.

Holyfield arrived Lagos on Tuesday, and engage with children and youths as he visits gyms, attends a ceremonial weigh-in at Ikoyi Club and presents award at the festival gala to the Vision of the Child Champions.

Chief Diana Chen, Chairman and CEO of Choice International Group, sole distributors of GAC Motors in Nigeria was one of the top dignitaries that graced the occasion. As the Official Car Company, CIG has made available a fleet of cars especially to Mr. Holyfield and his entourage for the duration of the event. The GAC automobiles are acknowledged for their luxurious and comfortable ride experience, original design, exquisite craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technologies. Indeed, GAC was the star car brand of the 2017 US-North America International Auto Show in Detroit.

Chief Chen, reiterated the commitment of her company to supporting initiatives that promote sports entertainment, youth empowerment and the general wellbeing of the Nigerian populace. According to her, GAC Motor is delighted that some of its exquisite products will serve as official cars for Evander Holyfield and his entourage during their stay in Nigeria.
