Why we rejected Ladoja’s commercials – BCOS
Oyo, Raw Politics, State News Thursday, January 20th, 2011
The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State on Wednesday said it rejected three commercials submitted by the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Campaign Organisation because the contents of the materials were “abrasive and capable of attracting replies from aggrieved parties.”
The station said it rejected the campaign materials sent by Ladoja, who is the Accord Party’s governorship candidate, because it had a responsibility not to promote ‘a fratricidal media war.’
The Director-General of the campaign organisation, Mr. Adeolu Adeleke, had on Tuesday alleged that the commercials were rejected by BCOS on the directive of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, who is also the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate.
But BCOS, in a statement by its Deputy Director, Public Relations, Mrs. Sade Kolajo, said the governor never directed the management of the corporation to reject radio and television jingles from any political party, aspirant or candidate.
Kolajo said that in their usual manner, they previewed the three materials brought by some men on behalf of the former governor’s campaign organisation and advised the three men to go and repackage the commercials because one of them contained scenes of violence and the others were laden with abusive language that will amount to character assassination on air.
