AFCON 2025: Super Eagles suffer major blow as Chelle confirms knee, ankle injuries

By Don SilasSuper Eagles have suffered a major blow after head coach, Eric Chelle, disclosed that first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has both knee and ankle injuries. Chelle spoke to the media ahead of Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON final group stage fixture against Uganda on Tuesday. The Malian, however, said he will decide which goalkeeper will be in goal for the Super Eagles against Uganda after his side’s final training session later on Monday. “He [Nwabali] has a little pain in his knee and has problems with his ankle,” Chelle said. “We have a final training before the match, and then I will decide. “We will manage for the team.” Chelle’s men currently top Group C with six points and are through to the last-16 stage after beating Tunisia at the weekend.
