Commissioner Stops Titles Conferment
Ogun, State News Saturday, November 26th, 2011The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Muyiwa Oladipo, has stopped the Eselu of Iselu, in Yewa North Local Government Area, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, from conferring chieftaincy titles on some natives.
The commissioner, it was gathered, acted on a petition forwarded to his office by some of the monarch’s chiefs on the ceremony slated for today.
Oba Akinyemi, after a closed-door meeting with the commissioner, confirmed the development to Saturday Tribune, saying that the ministry would be allowed to investigate the matter.
He gave the assurance that a new date would be announced as soon as the ministry concludes its investigations.
Meanwhile, the Otun Balogun of Iselu, Chief F. O. Aina, who spoke on behalf of the council of chiefs, disowned the purported petition.
