The 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the US President, Donald Trump, praised Remi Tinubu because of the power of money.”
DAILY POST reports that Trump on Thursday, acknowledged the presence of Tinubu’s wife as he spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.
Trump, who highlighted the First Lady’s faith leadership and role in religious life, further described her as a” very respected woman.”
Reacting, Sowore in a post on his official X handle wondered why the same Trump, who recently slammed the Nigerian government over the claim of genocide against Christians, is now praising those in the government.
He wrote, “@RealDonaldTrump praising ‘singing’ Remi Tinubu at his Washington DC prayer breakfast is not faith, Trump has no faith in anything but the power of money.
“Trump and his business neocons scream ‘Christian genocide!” for propaganda purposes, but the moment money changes hands, they suddenly become VIP guests receiving standing ovations.
“They weaponise religion when it helps them, then auction the same religion to the highest bidder”.
Remi Tinubu’s meeting with Trump came barely a month after Nigeria reportedly hired a US lobbying firm in a $9 million deal, aiming at shaping Washington’s understanding of Nigeria’s security response to violence against Christian communities.
