The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has disowned phoney Facebook accounts purportedly opened in his name by some unscrupulous individuals to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
In a statement issued on his behalf by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, in Abuja on Monday, Fayemi said the fraudsters operating through different phoney Facebook accounts with his photograph were advertising fraudulent financial aid programmes, business proposals and other nefarious activities.
Oyebode said, “In view of the possible spread of this obnoxious act and the need to forestall unsuspecting members of the public from falling prey to these criminal-minded individuals, it has become imperative to state as follows:
“The Minister of Solid Minerals Development dissociates himself and his office from any transaction whatsoever onFacebook, WhatsApp or any other social media platform.
“The minister does not have anything doing with a so-called Mavrodi Mondial Movement or any other online financial aid community, projects or contracts and has no hands in any fraudulent sale of application forms online and otherwise.”
