FG owes Lagos N59bn for federal roads’ repairs
Lagos, State News Sunday, September 11th, 2011LAGOS-The Federal Government is indebted to Lagos State to the tune of N59 billion, being the money the state government said it had spent so far on rehabilitation of federal roads in the state.
Meanwhile, as part of measures to save lives of its citizenry, the state government said it plans to construct new six pedestrian bridges on Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, which had claimed many lives due to activities of hit and run drivers.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Femi Hamzat, weekend said, “It was imperative for us to re-evaluate our strategies and reassess our positions.”
He stressed that one of the challenges facing the development of infrastructure in the state, was the paucity of fund, which prompted the state government to approach the money market for the financing of the state’s infrastructure deficit.
