I hope this is a mistake of the head – Aisha Yesufu reacts as Gov Alex Otti purchases fleet of foreign vehicles for security personnel

By Justina Otio

Political activist, Aisha Yesufu has reacted to reports of the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti purchasing fleet of foreign vehicles for the security personnel in the state while ignoring indigenous manufacturers.

Naija News understands that Otti had yesterday launched ‘operation crush’, a joint task force of police, army, navy and other relevant security agencies and subsequently unveiled 20 Hilux patrol vans donated by the administration to security agencies in the state.

However, Nigerians have berated the governor for ignoring indigenous companies like Innoson and Nord while patronising a foreign company.

Sharing her thoughts on the situation, Yesufu berated the governor for refusing to patronize locally made products.

She insisted that submissions about the durability are just excuses, maintaining that the more a company is patronized, the better it would be.

Yesufu, however, hoped that the governor would learn from his mistake and do better next time.

Speaking via Twitter, she wrote, “If government don’t patronize locally made products who then will? Talk of durability are just excuses. The more the companies are patronized the better they will be.

“@alexottiofr should ensure this is a mistake of the head and not mistake of the heart. We all make mistakes and we must learn from them and rectify them.”
