Jonathan’s visit to Niger: 50,000 policemen assigned duties
Goodluck Jonathan (2010-present), Niger, Presidency, State News Wednesday, October 19th, 2011The Niger State police command, has said that it is battle-ready to guarantee an hitch-free visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the state on Thursday, and that no fewer than 50 per cent of its 11,000 workforce has already been assigned the duties of the provision of security for the presidential visit.
And to further demonstrate the command’s commitment to its constitutional responsibility, to protect life and property before, during and after the presidential visit to Minna, the state capital, it stated that a reasonable number of officers and men, from the bomb disposal unit and the special investigation bureau in Abuja had been brought to the state with the assistance of the force headquarters, to sweep the town and its environs ahead the president’s working visit.
This disclosure was made on Tuesday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adamu Oguche, at the state police command headquarters, Minna.
He further said, “we are adequately prepared to receive the President and Commander –in- Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces on Thursday.”
