Lagos records 42 murder cases in 2 months
Lagos, State News Tuesday, March 6th, 2012At least 42 murder cases were recorded in Lagos between January and February this year. Summary of the crime statistics and achievements recorded in the months under review showed that Lagos State Police Command arrested 85 suspected armed robbers and also killed 14 purported bandits.
The police record showed that only one policeman was killed while 33 arms, 195 ammunition and 107 vehicles were recovered within the period. 163 vehicles were also stolen in the metropolis. 64 vehicles were said to have been snatched, 91 vehicles were removed from where they were parked while eight others were driven away by the drivers employed to drive the vehicles.
The police record also showed that only 11 armed robbery incidents were recorded. The statistics showed that 23 murder cases were reported in January while 19 were reported in February.
Sixty armed robbers were arrested in January while 25 others were arrested in February. Police allegedly gunned down five suspected armed robbers in January while nine were killed the next month.
Police recovered 22 arms, 165 ammunition and 71 vehicles in January with 11 arms, 30 ammunition and 36 vehicles recovered the following month.
Eight armed robbery incidents were recorded in January against three in February. Only one policeman was killed by armed robbers in February and non in January.
Daily Sun gathered that 28 vehicles were snatched in January as against 36 the next month. 31 vehicles were removed from where they were parked in January against 60 the following month. Drivers employed to drive vehicles drove away four in each month under review.
