NBA Affirms Security Beef Up in Rivers

THE Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has tagged Rivers State safe and secure after hosting one of the best NBA conferences in recent years.

NBA President, Joseph Daudu (SAN) gave the commendation during a farewell dinner organised by Rivers State government for members of the Bar, on Thursday, as part of the NBA week in Port Harcourt.

Dauda expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown them by the state and wished the people peace and prosperity.

“I thank the governor and people of Rivers State for providing all the assistance that we needed. I think the members of the Bar had the best of stay in the state,” he declared.

Responding, Governor Chibuike Amaechi, stated that the success recorded in hosting the conference in the city was an indication that the state was safe for investors.

“For you to enter and sit in your hall and conduct your activities without any molestation means that you are safe,” Amaechi said.

The governor solicited for the support of the NBA to better the polity by supporting and promoting good laws in the country. He thanked members of the Bar for visiting the state and prayed for journey mercies back to their homes.

In his remarks, chairman of the Port Harcourt branch of the NBA, Wogu Boms, thanked Governor Amaechi for the gesture shown to them during their stay in the state as he lauded the governor for creating a brand new state.

On her part, Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Justice, Mrs Mina Benebo, stated that the conference have provided the lawyers the opportunity to update their knowledge and network with each other.
