Oyo ACN Sets Up 15-member Transition Committee

The Action Congress  of Nigeria (ACN) in Oyo State has set up a 15-member transition committee, just as it warned the out-going governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, against unnecessary spendings.

The leader of the party in the state, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina, while addressing newsmen in Ibadan on Friday, called on Governor Alao-Akala to set up similar committee to ensure a peaceful and smooth transition.

He explained that till May 29, when the governor is expected to formally hand over the administration of the state to the newly-elected governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the transition committee would be liaising with the government.

The former governor, who noted that there were a lot of work to be done, said the transition committees should work together for proper transition.

He called on the state government to direct all the 33 caretaker committee chairmen in the state not to embark on any new developmental project, saying that they should concentrate only on payment of workers salaries and allowances.

He added that they should also make sure that all debts were paid.

The ACN leader also called on the state government not to spend money on any capital project, saying that money allocated for the renovation of hospitals in Ibadan should stop forthwith.

He advised the government to concentrate on the payment of civil servants’ salaries and allowances, adding that anything short of that would incur the wrath of the people of the state.
